The 16th annual New Milestones Foundation Bridging the Gap gala – “A Spotlight on Mental Health” – was held November 9, 2017 at the Hyatt Regency Austin. Thanks to the Honorary Chairs, Sharon and Lee Easter, the Gala Committee (led by Gala Chair Lynley Prather), and New Milestones Foundation and Integral Care staff, over 250 guests attended the Hollywood-themed event. The gala raised $122,000 to benefit Integral Care’s 24/7 Crisis Helpline.
Since 2002, we’ve held the Bridging the Gap gala, a fundraising event that features people sharing powerful personal stories about lived experience with mental illness, including celebrity speakers such as Carrie Fisher, Patty Duke, Joe Pantoliano and Mariel Hemingway. Through the years, the gala has raised more than $1.5 million. These funds increase access to critical services for adults and children experiencing mental illness, substance use disorder and intellectual and developmental disabilities in Travis County.
The keynote address was delivered by Sheila Hamilton, a 5-time Emmy Award winning journalist and author of All the Things We Never Knew, who spoke about her personal journey with her husband’s mental illness and ultimate suicide.
We’re so grateful to all who attended and gave so generously. Increasing our investment in behavioral health care helps ensure our community has the tools to thrive—both now and in the future. Financial support of New Milestones Foundation and Integral Care helps create transformative change in people’s lives.
