New Milestones Foundation

New Milestones Foundation raises funds to support the needs of those in our community with mental illness. We accomplish this by working in partnership with Austin Travis County Integral Care to expand awareness and provide services to those in our community with mental illness, intellectual and developmental disabilities or chemical dependency.

Here are some important facts about brain-based disorders:

• More than 1,300 individuals are waiting for mental health service from ATCIC;
• Mental illness is the leading cause of disability;
• Mental illness is ranked second for premature deaths, behind heart disease and ahead of cancer;
• Travis county had the highest suicide in 2006;
• Often, the onset of mental illness is found to begin between ages 18-24, and with Austin being home to one of the largest universities in the nation, we must educating our community to provide adequate services and suicide prevention efforts;
• Texas ranked 10th in 2006, in spending about $805 million for mental health services
