The Friends of New Milestones Foundation Kickoff Event on June 14 was an inspiring and fun-filled evening. Hosted in the home of Cindy and David Pinto, the event gave 50+ guests the opportunity to meet others interested in behavioral health issues and feature on two inspiring speakers: Christine Wade and Debbie Bresette.
Wade, the former director of Reading for the Blind and Dyslexic and an active volunteer within the Austin community, spoke about her struggles to successfully overcome depression and bi-polar disorder. Bresette, who is President of United Way for Greater Austin, told the audience about the challenges of caring for a family member with severe mental illness and expressed her gratitude to Integral Care for his ongoing care and to NMF for providing the housing unit where he has lived for the past several years. NMF President Kathy Rider wrapped up the event with an explanation of the vision of this group which is to involve people from throughout the community in NMF activities including the elimination of stigma and fundraising to support Integral Care programs.
