The 7th Annual New Milestones Foundation (NMF) Champions Event was a huge success! Over 400 people attended the event, including public officials Lee Leffingwell, Representative Donna Howard and Representative Elliott Naishtat. Chaired by Suzon Kemp at the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum, NMF honored its founder, Judy Yudof.
The night continued with keynote speaker and comedic actor Joe Pantoliano, star of the HBO series "The Sopranos." Mr. Pantoliano's speech guided the audience through his personal experiences with mental illness and recovery and continued with a question and answer portion.
This year's Champions Event honored three distinguished community members, Dr. David Brown, Rosie Mendoza and Patricia "Trish" Young Brown, for their advocacy for those living with mental illness and dedication to promoting the mission of NMF.
The audience also enjoyed the talents of Michelle Valles and operatic star Icy Simpson.
